Elliot Zielinski

Elliot Zielinski is an OC mutant. He is 18 years old, Polish, an alternate of Kit Sankt, and possibly, some kind of manic blithering idiot-savant, possibly minus the savant. For reasons unbeknownst to even himself, he lives in a halfway-house-cum-bomb-shelter with 50% of the Canadian punk band Hard Core Logo. They are:

  • Billy Tallent - one day whilst extraordinarily blitzed, Billy agreed to bear Elliot's children to save the future of mutantkind. Elliot declared him his manwhore, and proceeded to emphatically not have sex with or otherwise attempt to impregnate Billy.
  • Joe Dick - being a considerate gentleman capable of reading between the lines, Elliot acquired someone who would have sex with Billy. He and Joe don't get along, but they both prefer it that way.

There are on occasion other people in the house, usually young mutants who need a couch to crash on, or those simply seeking refuge from the raging mutant-human Xavier-Magneto conflict. Some are:

  • Bethany, a young hydrokinetic
  • Jono Smith, who tends to catch on fire

At First Glance

As long as he keeps his mouth shut, Elliot is, in a word, unremarkable. While of average height and build for a 18 year old male, Elliot can, with the proper clothing/acting, pass for as young as 16 or as old as 22. His features are regular, a little soft. His hair is unstyled and forgettable. Even his voice has a generic quality: he could read for children's audiobooks, if he would stop cussing. He tends to smell of sawdust, hot metal, coffee, marijuana, plaster, and aftershave. This varies widely, as do other features of his attire. The one constant would be a pair of headphones. If they are missing, he is either wearing hidden ear buds with the same capabilities (albeit less effective) or in a lot of pain.

Mutation

His primary power is enhanced hearing. For most of his life, this has been a bane rather than a blessing. He now controls this with a set of headphones that help him filter and cancel out noise as necessary. While his range fluctuates significantly with all the variables involved (location, acoustics, ambient noise), they generally follow these guidelines:

  • in a normal room, he can probably hear any conversation
  • assuming the walls aren't full of cork, he can probably hear conversation in any adjacent room
  • in conversational proximity, he can probably hear bodily and mechanical processes as well as normally inaudible emotional cues in people's voices/breathing
  • with the help of his earphones, he can tune into radio frequencies
  • it is extremely difficult to sneak up on him
  • but it is hilariously easy to disarm him by screaming

His secondary mutation is emotional control via eye contact. Because he lacks empathy at an alarmingly basic level, Elliot can't always make much use of this power. His most successful attempts have involved feelings of contentment and drowsiness, which can put weak-willed/surprised/unsuspecting targets to sleep. Oddly, Elliot believes use this power on himself, using a mirror. It's pretty much impossible to tell.

Background

According to things he's said in conversation, Elliot has normal parents and an older sister whom he maintains very distant contact with out of a desire not to complicate their lives. When his enhanced hearing manifested, it more or less heralded nearly two years of pain, confusion, varying levels of mental health, and a lot of medical bills.

Though Xavier's school helped him create the technology necessary to manage his abilities, he was never an X-Man (his powers are useless for combat) and he didn't stay long. He spent a lot of time wandering, picking up random skills and meeting a lot of people. He's sympathetic to both Magneto and Xavier's causes, but has no interest in getting involved. Instead, he seems to thrive on his ability to stay unnoticed and simply blend in, which is useful in any number of shady jobs which he may or may not have had. Whatever the case, he is unnaturally good at making lots of money, quickly.

Elliot has an alternate. Her name is Kit Sankt, though to be accurate, they are both using assumed names.
