Timothy Drake is a sixteen year old boy who lives in Gotham City. Stumbling across the Nexus one day allowed him to realize that not only could he actually make a difference in his city, but that he already had — time and time again, versions of Tim Drake play Robin to the hero he himself had already been following and investigating: Batman. He discovered there were so many possibilities to follow, so many people and events in the near to distant future who could mean something to him and change his life. He discovered that maybe he wanted to be a hero, too.
But the path hasn't been easy.
Canon
Starting from the premise that modern incarnations of Robin are to some degree composite characters, the Nexus' multiversal setting results in a canon-parallel AU version of Tim Drake. It should be noted that current DC canon is debatably on far more crack than anything described herein, and that the various canon AUs and Elseworlds are most certainly rolling in the snow. List of canon material drawn on or used for inspiration:
- Batman Begins - atmosphere, architecture
- Crime Syndicate (Earth 3/Antimatter Universe)
- Superman/Batman Annual #1
- Titans Tomorrow - model of the kind of person this Tim could become
- Gotham Central - atmosphere, police procedure
Nexus Canon
Tim's life thus far can be separated out into distinct periods, some of which are named deliberately to resemble the collected editions for Robin or major Batman storylines.
- Gotham Remix - the … special universe Tim comes from; his discovery of the Nexus; his decision to start training in emulation of his alternates.
- Lines of Madness - his accident with the personality-altering communicator; meeting Changeling, Lusca, Shard, the young Bruce, and most of his acquaintances; trying to reconcile working for a particularly ruthless Batman with his own moral failures.
- Shades of Red - giving up on Batman and conceding Gotham to the Crimson Eye; meeting and managing to escape Owlman; assuming Talon's uniform and identity.
- War Games - the multiverse is for having fun and vicariously conquering other worlds. Owlman can teach Tim what he needs to learn. But how much will Tim have to change? Ongoing.

- Another Place to Be - this story contains slash; the differences between comics!Tim and DCAU!Tim, who is really Jason, and how they interact with their families. Also a good comparison of how much grimmer different universes can be. (Please note that this Tim has not slept with any Batpeople :P)
